Green-collar jobs are a growing part of the U.S. economy. As heavy demand has risen for clean energy and environmentally responsible manufacturing - workers are building everything from hybrid cars to organic tee-shirts.

A green-collar worker is a person who uses new environmental technologies for consumers, designing and manufacturing goods that use less materials and  energy than those of just a year ago. Environmental groups from the Sierra Club to the League of Conservation Voters say these jobs are a victory for the environment and for workers.
